Christian Fundamentalists and Politics

Know how you're not supposed to talk about politics and religion? Well, let's mix the two and stir!

Also, do you feel like BJU and (Bob Jones III) have gone too far, like Falwell and Robertson, in pushing their political views..Repubicans, esp now with all these scandals, have been far from representing a high moral example (and I'm a conservative)...

May I play devil's advocate for a moment, at the risk of sounding like a personal attack? Consider what your question sounds like. How can anyone in America claim that someone else is going too far in expressing their political views? The freedom of speech, press, and assembly provided in the Constitution was not provided so kids can wear whatever they want on t-shirts and hip-hop artists can spout profanity: it was provided initially to protect POLITICAL discourse, discussion, and disagreement. It was this very LACK of political freedom in Britain that caused America in the first place.

So, with that said: BJU intentionally distances itself from Falwell and Robertson and their ilk, precisely due to the collateral damage suffered when one "Christian" (person or organization) takes it on the chin, making anyone who claims the name of Christian look, well, foolish.

You are absolutely spot-on when you cite Republicans as poor moral examples, and I too am quite embarrassed by what passes for "conservative" politics.

Especially if you compare it to the Bible.

BJU's stands and standards--when compared to the Bible--often make sense. Compared to the rest of the world, they're out of touch.

Perhaps the world is out of touch with the Bible?
