So What About Those Sandals?

Now, as for sandals? I can state unequivocally that BJU doesn't consider sandals immoral. Tacky? Perhaps. But not immoral. What would Jesus wear? Sandals, I bet! Rather, I'm certain He did while He was here--and so did all His followers. Read up on foot-washing if you're not convinced.

As I note elsewhere on this site: everyone at BJU is dressed as if they're ready for an important job interview. I didn't realize how significant of a thing this was until I started looking to hire employees. Let's just say that all things being equal, if you came in for a job interview in my company, and you're in sandals and the other candidate is "dressed to work" in business attire--I'm hiring the one who's appearance says "serious about being here", "ready to get to business", "respectful of your company" and not "kicking back in the hammock sipping a lemonade".

Is a dress code legalistic? Only if it pulls rank on the Bible.
